President Uhuru Kenyatta Offers NASA Leader Raila Odinga Cabinet Position

National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga was on Wednesday offered a Cabinet post in the next Government should President Uhuru Kenyatta win the election.

Speaking in Taita Taveta County, President Kenyatta stated that Mr Odinga should stop attacking his Cabinet Secretaries and instead focus on competing with him.

“Raila, kindly leave my juniors out of the day-to-day political statements that you make. You are competing against me, not Matiang’i.

If you are interested in a ministerial job, exercise a little bit of patience; I will appoint you to the Cabinet,” said President Kenyatta.

The President was speaking in response to Raila's claims that acting Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, was planning to rig the elections in favour of Jubilee.

Deputy President William Ruto on his part defended the CS stating that he had a right to discuss security matters and should not be dragged into politics.

"These NASA leaders should keep off Matiang'i. They should tell Kenyans whether they are ready for elections on August 8 or not. Matiang’i is not politicking. We have enough people to politick for us.

"It is not Matiang’i who needs to make up his mind. It is they who need to decide whether they are ready for the election. If they are not ready for this year's election they can have theirs in 2022 where they will meet me," he noted.

Mr Odinga had on Tuesday claimed that Dr Matiang'i would be used by the Jubilee Party to rig the elections under the pretext of security.

"Matiang'i is the Jubilee point man in Nyamira and we will not allow him to interfere with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as we know he is working on behalf of Jubilee.

"He should make a choice whether he is a Jubilee political player or a public servant," he stated.
