Jubilee Expresses Concerns Over Reports of NASA's Parallel Tallying Centre in Tanzania

A section of Jubilee Party leaders is in panic following a plan by the National Super Alliance (NASA) to set up a parallel tallying centre for the August General Election.

The situation is said to have been complicated by reports that the Opposition is planning to have the centre established in Tanzania.

This has sparked anxiety with some of the Jubilee officials fearing that NASA might be planning to declare its flag bearer Raila Odinga as President from the neighbouring country.

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe divulged that they were aware of the reports and would not leave anything to chance in case the Opposition's plan is actualised.

“We have no doubt in our mind that we will sweep them over in round one. But that does not and should not mean we are leaving anything to chance. We are aware of what they are up to and are telling Kenyans to beware of the enemy from within,” stated Murathe.

Another Jubilee leader expressed concerns that the Alliance could be planning to announce Odinga as the President in Tanzania like it happened earlier in the year in Gambia.

“We are aware that by stationing its back-up servers in Tanzania, they can proclaim Raila the winner using their own tally and declare him President in a neighbouring country as it happened in Gambia recently,” he noted.

On Friday, NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula advised Jubilee to stop panicking maintaining that they would set up the tallying centre at a location of their choice.

"We will tally all the votes as they come. It does not matter where the polling station is; even if they are on top of trees or in the clouds, our satellite phones will pick the results," he insisted.

He dismissed the links to Tanzania accusing the government of coming up with the allegations after sensing that NASA would win the August polls.
