Raila Odinga Asks Voters in Nairobi Not to Flee Over Fears of Violence

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has asked his supporters in Nairobi not to flee the county fearing violence on voting day.

Flanked by co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, the NASA luminaries asked their supporters, who are registered as voters in Nairobi, to stay back and vote.

The leaders stated that it is the mandate of the police officers to ensure that voters were safe to vote regardless of their political alignments.

"Every vote counts. We are asking all our supporters to remain where they are registered and cast their votes. The police must ensure that all Kenyans remain safe irrespective of their political affiliations," Raila stated during a rally in Mathare on Sunday.

At the same time, the ODM Party leader remained adamant, stating that no manner of threats from the acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i would change their plans to have agents at polling stations.

"No amount of force or threats will stop the wind of change. When they count, we count, when they announce, we announce, when they transmit results, we transmit results. We are sealing all the loopholes for rigging the elections this time," Raila warned.

Speaking for NASA, Siaya Senator James Orengo stated that nothing barred NASA supporters from protecting their votes and added that on August 8th, the coalition would have its volunteers and supporters at the 40,883 polling stations countrywide.
