National Super Alliance (NASA) Principal Kalonzo Musyoka has claimed that the Opposition tricked President Uhuru Kenyatta into missing the 2017 presidential debate held on Monday evening.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Makueni County, the Wiper Party Leader on Tuesday stated that NASA made the impression that Flag bearer Raila Odinga would miss the event by snubbing the presidential running mates debate.
"We tricked them. We knew those guys fear being accountable to the citizens and that is why I told Raila to seize the moment," Mr Musyoka stated.
The NASA Leader was accompanied by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Woman Rep Rose Museo and Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu.
As the debate was going on, President Kenyatta was holding a meeting with Samburu County leaders at State House, Nairobi, where they discussed the recent attacks on ranchers in the County.
Mr Odinga revealed that he agreed to attend last night’s debate after getting assurances that he would not have to share the stage with 'fringe candidates'.
The Opposition Chief told reporters outside the auditorium at the Catholic University of East Africa that he felt like a footballer who had scored a goal in an unguarded net after President Kenyatta skipped the event.
