Laikipia Lands Department Official Eric Cheruiyot's Body Found in Nanyuki River

The body of an official in the Lands Department in Laikipia County was Tuesday found dumped in Nanyuki river.

30-year-old Eric Cheruiyot was discovered by a passerby who informed security agents.

According to Laikipia East Police Commander James Kithuka, the body had no physical injuries.

Mr Kithuka ruled out murder in the incident, noting the area had experienced heavy downpours in recent days thus Cheruiyot could have drowned in the river.

"Documents belonging to Cheruiyot, including his ID and money, were intact in his pockets, he could have drowned," the police boss stated.

Police officers also found the body of 27-year-old Timothy Ndirangu behind the County Assembly offices.

The officer stated that Ndirangu's death may have been occasioned by his health background.

"The family informed us he was not mentally stable. He may have fled to the town after being locked in the house," Kithuka said.

The bodies were taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
