Meru County Residents Declare 'Uhuru Must Go', Support NASA's Raila Odinga

National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga got a massive boost on Tuesday during his visit to Meru County.

Meru has for a long time been considered a stronghold of the Jubilee Party but during Odinga's recent visit, the crowd was chanting 'Uhuru must go.'

With just a few weeks to the election, Raila will consider this a welcome boost in an area he did not expect so many votes.

Raila also touched on the Presidential Debate that he attended and took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta saying he chickened out.

"Yesterday Barcelona was supposed to play with Real Madrid but Real Madrid feared and they failed to appear in the pitch so [Lionel] Messi was left to do his thing alone because Ronaldo stayed off," he said.

In June, opposition leaders endorsed Meru Governor Peter Munya and it stoked fresh controversy over his ties with NASA.

The endorsement triggered an intense discussion on social media and elicited sharp reactions from Munya's competitors, forcing the Governor to defend himself against accusations that he was an Opposition sympathiser.

He later clarified the situation saying he was firmly behind President Kenyatta.
