National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has announced what he planned to do to President Uhuru Kenyatta during the presidential debate held on Monday.
Speaking during a rally in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, Odinga stated that if President Kenyatta showed up, he planned to confront him over the current state of the country.
He added that he was ready to inform the Head of State that “his time to leave” the helm of power had come.
According to the Opposition leader, he had key issues he planned to inquire from President Kenyatta especially including the rising cost of living.
He noted that he would have asked Kenyatta why Kenyans were suffering due to high food prices including sugar and milk, lack of maize flour, exorbitant fares and rent and unemployment.
Odinga maintained that he would have also asked the President why a section of Jubilee leaders had allegedly been carrying flour to induce voters during rallies, address the issue of low salaries and corruption.
Addressing a jubilant crowd, the NASA candidate assured that if the Alliance takes over power after the August polls, his government would provide low-cost housing.
He promised that youth and single mothers would then be given loans to purchase the houses so that they relocate from the slum areas.
President Kenyata on Monday failed to show up during the second tier of the eagerly awaited debate in which the Opposition chief participated alone.
