100 Siaya Politicians Join ODM to Support Governor Cornel Rasanga

100 politicians in Siaya County have defected to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) declaring support for Governor Cornel Rasanga.

The group which has been supporting Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo's gubernatorial bid declared that it had ditched the independent candidate for the incumbent.

Speaking on Wednesday, they stated that they decided to back Rasanga due to his development record for the last four years.

Led by one Moses Odhiambo, the politicians accused Gumbo of lacking any development agenda for the county adding that he was vying for the seat for personal interest.

According to the leaders, they decided to adhere to ODM boss Raila Odinga's plea for his supporters to vote in the Orange party candidates.

“Going by the Luo-Nyanza history, opposing Raila is tantamount to a curse as no leader has opposed him and survived politically," stated Odhiambo.

Welcoming the support which comes 11 days to the August General Election, Rasanga affirmed he was ready to work with anyone supporting his development agenda.

He described the decamping as major win calling on his supporters to maintain peace during the electioneering period.

"Everyone knows politics is a game of numbers and with such a delegation from my opponent's camp, I am headed to victory,” declared the governor.
