Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi have endorsed a candidate vying in the August Election on an ODM ticket.
Speaking during a campaign rally on Friday, the two declared their support for ODM Langas Ward candidate Charles Okumu.
They further noted that they were reciprocating a decision by National Super Alliance (NASA) principals led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to endorse Mandago.
On Wednesday, the NASA leaders, during a rally held at the 64 stadium in Eldoret announced their support for the Uasin Gishu boss.
They urged area residents to reject the governor's main competitor Bundotich Buzeki, despite Mandago vying on a Jubilee ticket.
The announcement cheered the county chief's supporters as they were seen dancing and interacting with those of the Opposition.
Later, the incumbent welcomed the unexpected support noting that the endorsement had been prompted by his development record which the NASA leaders had noted.
He affirmed that the Opposition had a right to endorse him adding that he could even run for a higher seat such as the Presidency.
“Our friends from NASA do not have a candidate for governor here, but they know my good work and that is why they have said I should get another five years. In future I may be a serious candidate for the top seat,” he stated.
