Two people have been injured after Jubilee and National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters clashed during a burial service.
The supporters of Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka who is seeking re-election of a Jubilee ticket engaged in a violent confrontation with those of Ford Kenya gubernatorial candidate Wycliffe Wangamati.
The two groups had attended the burial of Lusaka's campaign coordinator, Edward Juma who was attacked and shot dead last week.
As the event held at Chebukwabi Primary School in Kimilili progressed, Wangamati supporters are said to have arrived playing loud music while declaring support for NASA.
This seemingly angered their Jubilee counterparts who had arrived earlier sparking a violent confrontation.
Lusaka's team accused the NASA group of disrespecting the dead by coming for the burial while drunk and descended on each other with kicks and blows.
The Ford Kenya supporters were forced to flee the scene as some of the vehicles at the ceremony were damaged.
One of those who suffered injuries at the event attended by Water CS Eugene Wamalwa is former Kimilili MP aspirant Chirasha Wakoli and former Chwele/Kabuchai MCA aspirant Simiyu Mutaki.
Both Wangamati and Lusaka reported the matter to the police accusing each other's supporters of orchestrating the chaos.
Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula condemned the fracas blaming Governor Lusaka for the incident.
