The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has allayed fears that the passwords to the election system have been leaked following ICT Manager Chris Msando's death.
IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba assured election stakeholders that the passwords are yet to be released to the involved IEBC commissioners.
"The system is not compromised. Each and every person with the Commission plays a different role when it comes to the system. It is a more complex system which is not compromised. We are good to go.
"The system that we will deploy for the elections is very complex. It has servers, gadgets, network, and people. It is not a system that we would entrust in the hands of one person," Chiloba stated.
The sentiments were echoed by commissioner Margaret Wanjala who conveyed that Mr Msando did not know the passwords before his death.
"Our ICT boss didn't die with an unknown password as people think. This issue of passwords is bothering so many including church leaders," the commissioner stated.
Mr Chiloba emphasised that the slain ICT Manager was a team player and could not have given out sensitive information that could compromise the election.
"The fears the people might have is that Chris is not with us so the election might be compromised, but I can tell you, as the Chairman (Wafula Chebukati) said, he was a team player, one among the many and his greatest value. When he joined the Commission, we told him that he will be the evangelist of our ICT projects," he emphasised.
