NASA Flag Bearer Raila Odinga Names 8 People Who Will Oversee NASA Government

National Super Alliance (NASA) Flag bearer Raila Odinga has named eight people who will oversee his government if he takes power after August 8 polls.

The transition team includes nominees of all five NASA principals and other experts in the Constitution and legal affairs, economics, governance, security, politics and public policy.

The team will be headed by ex-chairman of the now-defunct Task Force on Devolved Government Dr Mutakha Kangu.

Odinga’s running mate Kalonzo Musyoka will be represented by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula will be represented by Torangen MP Eseli Simiyu while Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto will be represented by his Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Party Chairman, Isiolo Deputy Governor Mohammed Guleid.

Other members include Dr David Ndii, East Africa Legislative Assembly member Abubakar Zein and Lawyer Paul Mwangi.

The team has been meeting to identify priority areas NASA will concentrate on if it is victorious in the polls.

Part of the team will join top government officials, formally known as the Assumption of the Office of the President Committee, to spearhead the handover of power.

The Assumption of the Office of the President Act states that the President-elect should nominate three people to join 19 others, mostly top officials of the outgoing administration.

The 22-member Assumption of the Office of President Committee is mandated to facilitate the handing over and organise for the security of the President-elect.

The same committee is also required to publish in the Gazette, the date and place of the swearing-in. The day should be a public holiday.
