1 American and Canadian Working for NASA Deported

Two foreigners who are said to have been arrested on Friday night after the alleged raiding of NASA offices have been deported.

The two, an American and 1 Canadian departed the country on Saturday afternoon shortly after NASA leaders raised concern over their whereabouts.

United States Embassy confirmed the deportation stating that it was done in collaboration with the government and their Canadian counterparts.

“In touch w/ Kenyan Government & w/ 1 American & 1 Canadian detained Aug 4. They're safe & departing Kenya,” the embassy tweeted.

Earlier on, Siaya Senator James Orengo told a press conference that the two had been contracted by the Opposition and were helping in preparation for the Tuesday polls.

Orengo claimed that the ICT experts were arrested from their homes in Westlands shortly after the raiding of the NASA parallel tallying centre.

The Senator added that two other Ghanaians who were also to set assist the Opposition outfit were intercepted shortly after landing at JKIA and deported to their country.

Orengo accused the government of carrying out the raid which is said to have been conducted by close to 20 heavily armed men.

During the incident, the raiders ransacked the offices carrying away desktops and laptops and also harassed workers.

Police spokesman George Kinoti denied police involvement stating that the alleged break in had not been reported at any station.
