ODM Rongo Parliamentary Candidate Paul Abuor Attacked During Campaigns

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Rongo Parliamentary Candidate Paul Abuor was attacked together with his wife on Sunday evening during his final round of campaigns in Migori County.

 Abuor’s wife, Jane suffered a leg injury after goons attacked their two cars in Central Kanyamkago Ward.

The Parliamentary hopeful said the attackers had crude weapons.

“I was heading home when were attacked. This is the work of my main rival in the constituency with a history of violence,” Abuor stated.

Abuor recorded a statement at the Kamagambo police station while his wife was taken to Rongo sub-county hospital.

Rongo Police Commander Jonathan Kisaka confirmed that further investigations into the incident had been launched.

The police boss noted that at least 17 people in the area were facing political violence charges.

On Saturday, Migori town residents fled after supporters of incumbent Governor Okoth Obado and his main rival Ochillo Ayacko clashed at the volatile Posta Grounds.

Trouble started when youth signalled Obado to leave when he tried to address them.

The youth hurled stones and attacked each other with crude weapons leaving at least two people injured.

On Friday, three vehicles in Ayacko’s convoy were pelted with stones on their way from the Kabunde airstrip in Homa Bay.

Three people were injured during the incident.
