Voters in Malindi Constituency Stranded as IEBC Officials Fail to Turn up in 2 Polling Stations

Voters from Malindi constituency, Kilifi County, were on Tuesday morning left stranded after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials failed to show up in two polling stations.

Reports indicated that by 7am voting materials had not arrived at the Uhuru Garden Polling Station and the Town Primary School Polling Stations in the constituency.

The IEBC officials finally turned up with the materials at 8am and begun setting up for the voters.

The electoral body is yet to issue an official statement of the incident.

In like manner, voters in a polling station in Donholm, Embakasi East Constituency and the Westlands Primary School polling station in Nairobi also experienced a hitch in the voting process as IEBC officials delayed in opening the polling stations as their preparations were hindered.

Most polling stations around the country, however, kicked off on time as a large number of voters turned out to queue as early as 1am.
