Kisumu West MP Olago Oluoch Turned Away From Polling Staion

Kisumu West Member of Parliament Olago Aluoch was Tuesday morning turned away at the polling station for lack of an original Identification Card (ID).

Olago, who is allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA), arrived at his polling station (Mkendwa Muslim Primary School) shortly after 6:00 am but was not allowed to proceed after officials discovered that he lacked an original ID.

The MP's efforts to explain to the IEBC officials that he was a duly registered voter were futile as the Presiding officer insisted that Olago would not be allowed to vote without an original ID.

Speaking to the media shortly after the mishap, the MP explained that he had picked the wrong copy of his ID.

"I think I was just in a hurry, but I have no objection. Let me get back to the house I will return to the station with the document. There is still enough time," Olago stated.

In regards to the electoral process, Olago noted that everything was moving on smoothly, adding that the election material and officials had arrived on time ready to facilitate the voting exercise.

"So far things are moving on well and we hope this is going to be the trend across the constituency. I want to start moving around just to ensure that everything is smooth," he stated.

Olago is seeking to defend his seat on a Ford-Kenya party ticket and will square it out with John Awiti of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
