Kiambu Governor William Kabogo Concedes Defeat

Kiambu outgoing Governor William Kabogo has conceded defeat after losing to Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu in the gubernatorial race.

Addressing the media on Wednesday afternoon, Kabogo thanked the people of Kiambu for giving him a chance to serve them in the first term.

He stated that the future was bright and there was more for him to do once he leaves office adding that he would live to fight another day.

“I wish to thank my campaign team for their tireless efforts these last several months. You fought a good fight but it is now time to rest,” he stated.

He divulged that he had spoken with the governor-elect and congratulated him on his victory.

"It is my belief that he shares the same passion for serving the people of Kiambu like I have, and that this will be evident in the months and years to come," he stated.

 The outgoing county boss urged the leaders and residents to find ways to bridge the differences and divisions witnessed during the campaign period.

On whether he would work with the incoming county boss, Kabogo maintained that he was done with the governorship work indicating that he would take a break from politics.

According to preliminary results, Waititu leads with 737,795 votes (78,17%) with Kabogo coming second with 198,277 votes (21,01%).
