Agents Kicked Out of Mvita Tallying Centre in Mombasa

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Thursday morning kicked out party agents from the Mvita tallying centre in Mombasa.

The circumstances under which the agents were kicked out remain uncertain, however, the IEBC officials conveyed that the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) had failed.

The failure of the elections system slowed down the transmission of results in some centres as the officials were forced to enter results manually.

On Wednesday evening, IEBC executives confirmed reports that hackers failed in their attempt to access the result transmission system.

The Commissioner in-charge of ICT committee, Yakub Guliye, reassured the public that the system was intact and the hackers' attempts were not successful.
