Party Agents, IEBC Officials Charged With Election Offences to Pay Sh300,000 Bond

Eight people among them party agents and two IEBC Officials have been charged with election malpractices in a Mombasa Court and ordered to pay Sh300,000 each for their release.

The eight were charged with offences ranging from offering bribes to voters, issuing extra ballot papers to being in possession of national identity cards belonging to other people.

The two IEBC officials charged were Benard Malange Matuku and Kennedy Mulwa Kitheka.

Police arrested Kennedy Mulwa in Changamwe constituency after he was caught handing double senator and MP seat ballot papers to select voters on the queue.

Benard Malange was arrested in Malindi Constituency where he was caught issuing double ballot papers as well.

Party agents named in the charges are Jeremiah Sosi Musiita, Athmani Ali Wafisi, Hamadi Hassan Mariaka, Mohmeed Salim Kai, Harry Sululu Barasa, Fredrick Njagi.

The eight, including a voter, Leonard Odonda Kinyaga, were found guilty of the offences and were released on a Sh300,000 bond.
