Chaos at Nakuru Town West Tallying Centre After Jubilee Candidate Declared Winner

Chaos broke out at the Nakuru Town West Constituency tallying centre on Thursday after the Returning Officer (RO), Gilbert Serem, declared Jubilee candidate Samuel Arama the winner.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate for the parliamentary seat, Andrew Ochoki attacked the RO as he was about to hand over the IEBC winner's certificate to Arama.

Police officers moved to contain the situation and later escorted Mr Ochoki out of the premises.

The winner criticised his opponent for the drama, urging him to pursue the proper channels for resolving the dispute.

"I respect my opponent who is also my senior, it was not the correct way to dispute the results. He would have gone to court," Mr Arama stated.

A similar incident occurred at the coast where Lamu West Parliamentary aspirant Rishad Hamid Ahmed fought with RO Abdalla Chikophe, accusing the IEBC official of rigging.

An angry Ahmed claimed that not all votes from various polling stations, especially those he considered to be in his strongholds, had been tallied.
