Kisii MCA Aspirant Frank Mirina Resurfaces After Being Allegedly Kidnapped

A Kisii Member of County Assembly (MCA) aspirant Frank Mirina who was allegedly kidnapped has resurfaced in Kisumu County.

According to Kisii County Police Commander Harith Abdi, Mirina who was vying on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket was taken to Pap Onditi Police Station by a boda boda operator.

Mirina claimed that he was hijacked by four people while riding a motor cycle to Nyaribari Chache Constituency Tallying Centre in Kisii Town.

He added that the abductors forced him into a Toyota Probox vehicle and sped off.

"I was going to register a complaint regarding electoral malpractices when three men accosted me after ramming their Probox car onto the bike I had boarded,” Mirina narrated.

The politician further stated that the kidnappers threatened him with dire consequences for vying for the ward seat.

"My abductors told me that Kisii Town has its owners and that I should not think that I can assume its leadership so easily," Mirina highlighted.

He added: "They took me around several places and whenever they received or wanted to make phone calls, they could stop the vehicle, alight then return when done."

Mirina further disclosed that the abductors locked him in a room for several hours without food or water before they returned and drove hime around the entire Wednesday night and Thursday morning."

The politician told police officers that the four men took away his mobile phone and wallet, which contained some money before dropping him in a thicket in Nyakach area in Kisumu.

Mr Mirina, who lost the MCA race to Jubilee's Kepha Mogaka after garnering 776 votes against Mogaka's 937 votes accused his political rivals of the abduction.

He, however, noted he would vie again in the future.
