The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has called on Kenyans who applied for logbooks to collect them from their county offices.
According to NTSA Director General Francis Meja, some of the logbooks have been lying on the shelves for more than seven months.
"Applicants should move with speed and pick their documents. We might introduce a fee for delay in picking of logbooks," Meja stated.
Meja noted that more than 15,000 motor vehicle logbooks remained uncollected. In Nairobi County 8,763 logbooks have not been collected, 5,998 in Mombasa and 228 and 130 logbooks in Kisumu and Nyeri respectively.
The NTSA Boss further indicated that the Authority has made efforts to contact the individuals via SMS and through the person’s TIMS account but the customers allegedly ignored all their communication.
Meja highlighted revealed that most of the Authority’s services were online thus making easier it for the public to access them.
Earlier in the year, NTSA launched an online platform TIMS (Transport Integrated Management System) for registration and transfer the motor vehicle ownership.
The new system has since reduced the duration taken to get a logbook from 30 days to 3 days.
