Outgoing West Pokot Officials Have Stolen County Property - Governor-elect John Lonyangapuo Reveals

West Pokot Governor-elect Prof. John Lonyangapuo has spoken on a sinister scheme involving a section of outgoing county officials.

The county officials are said to have looted West Pokot County Council premises, leaving the offices empty.

According to Prof. Lonyangapuo, the stolen property comprises of county vehicles, curtains, Television sets and several pieces of furniture belonging to the county.

The newly-elected Governor ordered the officials to immediately return the items or face legal action.

Prof Longanyapuo confirmed that he will be sworn in on Monday, adding that plans for the event were underway.

The Assumption of Office Commitee had allocated Sh20 Million for the Governor's inauguration but Lonyangapuo now wants the funds scaled down to Sh3.5 Million.

The Professor directed that the balance be channeled to the controlling of cattle rustling and insecurity issues within the banditry prone county, especially along the border.

Regarding insecurity in the region, the Governor-elect noted that he plans to work with other local leaders so as to come up with a better solution for the region.

"We will agree as the local leaders on how to deal with this issue and later seek approval from the national government," he explained.

Prof. Lonyangapuo, who was vying on KANU Party ticket, trounced the incumbent Simon Kachapin who was vying under the Jubilee Party.
