Former Kuresoi South Legislator Zakayo Cheruiyot Quits Politics

Former Kuresoi South Legislator Zakayo Cheruiyot has officially quit politics after losing his parliamentary seat to Joseph Tonui of Jubilee Party.

Cheruiyot who served for two terms announced his retirement on Saturday at Kiptagich and congratulated Tonui for clinching the seat.

"I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as your MP for the past 10 years.

"Now you have given Tonui a chance, I respect your choice," he stated.

Cheruiyot was seeking for a third term through Chama Cha Mashinani led by former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.

The incoming Kuresoi South MP on his part noted that he would serve all people equally without any discrimination to those who didn't elect him.

"As I speak, I am a leader of all including the CCM supporters and I will not be biased in my service," he stated.

He also called on the residents to shun politicians who lacked any solid agenda adding that the community should unite and support Deputy President William Ruto.

"I want to urge you to ignore any leader who intends to divide the broad Kalenjin community. DP Ruto is taking us to prosperity," he stated.
