Musalia Mudavadi Accuses Jubilee Party of Threatening NASA Gubernatorial Candidates Who Lost Elections

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Musalia Mudavadi has accused the Jubilee Party of threatening Opposition governors who lost in the elections.

Speaking on Monday, the NASA chief conveyed that the ruling party was using underhand methods to coerce the outgoing governors into conceding defeat.

"The most disturbing feature of this arbitrary political pressure to concede defeat is that it involves threats and intimidation, particularly by waving the spectre of prosecution, unwarranted and excessive tax assessments and demands, and interference with legitimate business or other enterprises," Mudavadi stated.

The NASA co-principal was speaking a few hours after the immediate former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero conceded defeat to Mike Sonko.

Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju lauded the move, observing that the Opposition seemed to have been disappointed by Kidero's concession.

"He gracefully handed over and that is as it should be. That contrasts with the actions of their party leader and from where I sit, I can see them frantically trying to look for a way of changing the narrative," Tuju observed.

Mudavadi refused to name the governors he believed to be under duress, however, he raised concerns over what he termed as "strange and odd" victories in Garissa, Machakos, Nairobi, Narok, Kajiado, Wajir and Marsabit.

He alleged that Jubilee's methods were only paralleled by those employed by KANU at the height of its impunity and that their aim was to avoid exposing the extent of fraud in the elections.

"NASA maintains that no elections in Kenya have been as scandalous and controversial as this year’s and we are determined to prove it in court and through other legal avenues.

"Jubilee must not panic or resort to guerrilla tactics if it really won," Mudavadi advised.
