NASA Politicians Declare Support for President Uhuru Kenyatta

A section of National Super Alliance (NASA) politicians has promised to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's win should the Supreme court rule in his favour.

The leaders from Turkana County including Turkana Central MP-elect John Lodepe and Turkana Deputy Governor Peter Lotethiro assured President Kenyatta of their full support in the presidential petition at the Supreme Court.

Mr Lodepe was elected under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) while his counterpart Lotethiro is the deputy of Governor Nanok who was also elected under ODM.

Speaking at Eldoret Sports Club grounds during the swearing in of Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago, the ODM politicians clarified that the support will be determined by the outcome of the petition filed by NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga at the Supreme Court.

They noted that supporting Uhuru's win will be significant in ensuring that he completes all the projects he initiated in the Turkana region during his first term as the president.

The move comes as one of NASA advisors, David Ndii, on Tuesday indicated that the Opposition coalition will not accept the outcome of the verdict of the supreme court if it rules against Mr Odinga.

Mr Ndii further stated that the coalition was "well prepared" for mass action if the Supreme Court failed to consider its evidence.

Speaking during the inauguration of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Tuesday, Raila launched a new campaign dubbed "national campaign for truth and electoral justice in Kenya".

Mr Odinga said that the campaign was meant to protect Kenyans' votes, noting  that he would not bow to internal and external pressure to move on from the August 8 poll which he insists was rigged.

Last week, NASA filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging President Kenyatta's re-election.
