Nairobi Police Boss Japheth Koome Rejects NASA's Supreme Court Plan

A plan by the National Super Alliance (NASA) to hold prayers at the Supreme Court on Sunday has been rejected.

Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome turned down a request sent by the Opposition which intended to hold a vigil outside the Court.

Koome insisted that the authorities would not allow any assembly near the Court which is set to start hearing the presidential petition filed a week ago by NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Police are reportedly set to seal off Wabera Street, City Hall Way and Taifa Road to motorists and pedestrians for the Supreme Court sittings which will start with a pre-trial conference scheduled for Saturday 7 pm.

The Opposition had sent a letter to the police boss seeking permission to hold the vigil and be provided with security during the prayers.

During a meeting of NASA principals and MPs-elect, they planned to hold similar assemblies in various parts of the country to pray for the case whose ruling will be made at the end of next week.

“We have discussed on how to navigate the case in court and have agreed that on Sunday, we shall hold prayer sessions in Nairobi and other party offices,” stated Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
