3 Family Members Burnt to Death in Nairobi's Dandora Estate

Three people including a child were Tuesday night burnt to death in Dandora estate, Nairobi.

The other two are believed to be the parents of the child.

Police boss Japheh Koome stated that they were called and informed of a fire incident on Wednesday morning.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Mr Koome noted that they found the bodies badly burnt and could only recognize a child among the charred bodies which were taken to the mortuary.

"It is not clear what caused the fire incident and investigations have been launched so far," he stated.

He also indicated that there are possibilities that the fire incident could be a suicide mission initiated by either member of the family.

Nonetheless, he assured the neighbours that they would establish whether it was arson or an accident that caused the fire.

The death of the three comes hours after a man, his wife, and five children died in a similar incident at their house in Trans Nzoia County.

The frequent fire outbreaks have been widely blamed on the inefficiency of the Fire department.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has responded to this matter by meeting up with officials of the Nairobi County fire department.

He asked them to explain the challenges they have been experiencing in controlling the outbreaks promising to facilitate the agency in fulfilling their mandate.
