President Uhuru Kenyatta Announces What He Will Do to Judiciary If Re-elected

President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to "fix" the Judiciary if he is re-elected in the upcoming presidential elections.

Addressing Jubilee MCAs and Governors at State House, the President stated there was a big problem in the Judiciary which he noted will be fixed.

Kenyatta insisted that even though he respected the ruling to nullify his win in the August polls, the judgment in itself was wrong both in principle and fact.

“The Supreme Court sat and decided that they are the ones with a bigger power than the 15 million Kenyans who woke up, queued in lines, and voted for their preferred presidential candidate. As a Supreme Court, they cannot annul the wishes of the people. And we will revisit this thing,” the President stated.

He told the Jubilee leaders that if he wins the polls, he would revisit the issue of the Supreme Court.

“We shall revisit this thing. We clearly have a problem. Who even elected you? We have a problem and we must fix it,” he added.

His sentiments were echoed by Deputy President William Ruto who maintained that they would not succumb to intimidation from the court to forego their win.

“When this is done, we shall interrogate everything, how a Supreme Court overturned the will of Kenyans on the basis of things that have nothing to do with how they voted, on some technicality," DP Ruto stated.

Ruto further dismissed calls from the National Super Alliance (NASA) for new IEBC Commissioners as the country awaits the presidential election.

He affirmed that they would not allow the reconstitution of the electoral body adding that the current Commission would oversee the repeat presidential election.
