Embakasi East MP Babu Owino Warns IEBC Ahead of Fresh Presidential Election

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has told the IEBC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, that the Opposition will not allow the electoral body to conduct a fresh Presidential election.

Owino stated that Chebukati and his team should be jailed due to the massive irregularities that marred the August elections.

His sentiments did not go down well with a section of Kenyans who told him he had no moral authority to attack Chebukati.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday also rejected the new election date set by IEBC.

Mr Odinga dismissed the election date noting that IEBC had not consulted the National Super Alliance (NASA) on the matter.

He argued that there were thorny issues that needed to be taken care of first before the elections are conducted.

On Monday, IEBC announced that the fresh presidential election ordered by the Supreme Court would be held on Tuesday, October 17.

Through a statement issued by Chebukati, the electoral commission added that only President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Odinga would be on the ballot paper.
