Raila Demands President Uhuru to Resign After Leaked IEBC Document

National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to resign following the leaked memo by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Addressing the press on Friday Mr Odinga stated, "We just want to urge Jubilee to do the right thing. If I were Uhuru Kenyatta, looking at what has transpired I would just resign and let this thing go."

Speaking from Okoa Kenya Headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, the former Prime Minister asserted that the President was trying to impose himself against the will of the people.

On the recent defections by various leaders to Mr Kenyatta's camp, Odinga told the press "he (Uhuru) is now trying to buy individuals here and there, forcing them to give him support. Everything is now clear, he did not win this election."

The leaked memo showed Chebukati demand answers to 12 tough questions from the commission's Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba, seemingly confirming major irregularities in the electoral process.

Among the issues raised in the document was the failure of satellite phones that cost about Sh848 Million to acquire, and the creation of an account in the chairman's name that was used to access the database about 9,934 times.

Mr Chebukati also asked for an explanation from Chiloba as to why GPRS and Geo-fencing features for the KIEMS electronic kits were switched off from August 5, 2017, three days before the election.

The Chairman also wanted to know why some statutory forms by Dubai-printing firm Al Ghurair lacked security features and why 595 polling stations failed to send Presidential Election results.
