President Uhuru Kenyatta Reveals Why Raila is Broke and Asking Kenyans for Campaign Money

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday revealed why the Opposition Leader Raila Odinga and the National Super Alliance (NASA) are broke and asking for campaign money from Kenyans.

Addressing Jubilee supporters at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, President Kenyatta noted that NASA had resorted to public fundraising because governors who financed their campaigns were sent home in last month's election.

The Head of State explained that Mr Odinga's camp relied on cash from ex-governors and since they were no longer in office the team was broke.

The President singled out Nairobi and Kajiado as some of the counties that heavily funded the former Prime Minister's campaigns.

President Kenyatta cited Nairobi County stating that under Governor Mike Sonko the city collects Sh40 million per day up from Sh17 million which was being raised under Evans Kidero's regime.

"The difference is what our colleagues used to pocket and use for their evil deeds. Now they have started collecting public funds because what they used to steal is lost.

"The money will now be used to upgrade drainage systems, street lighting, water supply and give jobs to our youth," President Kenyatta stated.

The President made the remarks after Mr Odinga appealed to well-wishers to financially support his campaign ahead of the October 17th election.

Speaking on Friday at Okoa Kenya Headquarters in Lavington, the ODM Leader asked NASA supporters to make contributions of as little as 10 shillings to aid his campaign.

He equated supporting his Presidential campaign to buying a ticket to Canaan.

The NASA Presidential candidate has, however, denied claims that former county bosses were funding him stating that the opposition activities have always been driven by well-wishers who believe in the movement's ideologies.

House Majority Leader Aden Duale warned Kenyans against sending money to the pay bill number issued by opposition leaders.
