NASA Politician Presents Himself to Police in Nairobi

A National Super Alliance (NASA) politician on Monday surrendered to police after his loaded firearm was recovered in a petrol station toilet in Nairobi.

Peter Imwatok, who clinched the Makongeni Ward MCA seat under an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, presented himself to the Industrial Area Police Station.

The Ward representative was reported to have left his firearm at the Galitos Oil Libya Petrol Station at the junction of Enterprise Road and Lusaka Road.

He presented the certificate for the firearm which upon reviewing, police discovered it had expired on June 26, 2016.

On Sunday, area police reported that they discovered the Ceska Pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition after a member of the public alerted officers who were on patrol.

There have been various cases where NASA leaders and their staff have been involved in gun drama in the city.

Recently Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's bodyguard, Simon Lonyai, was reportedly dismissed from the National Police Service after an altercation at the Supreme Court.

Lonyai had engaged in a scuffle with his seniors after trying to enter the Court room in the company of Wetangula while armed.

The incident sparked a scene at the entrance after the officers deployed to man the area blocked their entry following an earlier directive to restrict armed persons from accessing the court room.

Following the confrontation, Lonyai was forcefully disarmed and ejected from the premises.
