The decomposing body of Elgeyo Marakwet County Probation Director, Ferdinand Ouma, was discovered in his house in Iten on Sunday evening.
According to Keiyo North Police Commander Mwenda Meme, officers broke into Ouma’s house after neighbours alerted them of a foul smell.
Mr Meme stated that the officers discovered Ouma's body after they looked through the window.
“Residents reported that there was a stench from a certain house and that they had not seen the occupant for several days. Police officers broke the window when they saw the decomposing body on the bed,” Meme stated.
The Police Boss assured that they had launched investigations to reveal the cause of death.
Officers from the probation department stated that Ouma was last seen a few days before the August 8 General Election.
Keiyo North Probation Officer Jeremiah Morogo stated that his Boss went to his home in Busia County to vote then returned to Iten where he remained for his leave.
Junior officers at the Iten probation office described Ouma as a secretive person.
