Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has cancelled a trip to Mombasa for the city's 122 Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
Ms Elachi argued that the week-long trip to facilitate the induction of the county lawmakers did not require them to travel to the Coast.
"I felt it was practical for the members to do it here at the chambers since, basically, they were to be taught how to enter, and how to use the systems and electronic machines," the Speaker explained.
She added that the county staff had already kicked off the training sessions at the county headquarters at City Hall.
Ms Elachi further outlined that the MCAs will take a trip to Naivasha over the weekend to bond and learn more about devolution.
Their Kiambu counterparts, however, spent Sh10.8 Million on the induction trip to Mombasa, during their first week of being sworn in.
Governor Mike Sonko officially opened the Assembly on September 6 and formal proceedings are expected to begin in two weeks.
