NASA Reveals Amount of Money Raised for October 17 Presidential Election

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has revealed the amount of money it has received from the campaign funds drive launched a week ago.

In a statement sent by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, the Alliance divulged that it has so far raised Sh20 Million as contribution from supporters.

According to Mudavadi, most of the supporters who contributed towards the initiative were small donors who gave as little as Sh5.

He thanked Kenyans who had participated in the drive urging their supporters to continue donating even on behalf of their friends as the presidential election approaches.

“I am especially grateful to those who gave as little as Ksh5, Ksh10 and Ksh20, they are the heart of the movement. Whether you donated Ksh 20 or 20,000 or 2 million, you are now plugged into the journey to bring electoral justice and accountability to Kenya. Your cents have become Ksh20 million,” read the statement from the Alliance.

Last week, NASA leader Raila Odinga appealed to well-wishers to financially support his campaign ahead of the October 17th election.

Speaking at Okoa Kenya Headquarters in Lavington, the former Prime Minister asked NASA supporters to make contributions of as little as 10 shillings to aid his campaign.

He equated supporting his Presidential campaign to buying a ticket to Canaan.

The move was heavily criticised by a section of Jubilee leaders, led by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, who claimed the Opposition was fleecing Kenyans.
