The former Majority Leader of the Narok County Assembly, Mr Wilson Masikonde, has blamed his loss in the August 8 polls on his rival's alleged use of witchcraft to confuse voters.
Mr Masikonde, former Olposimoru MCA, filed a petition challenging Kikaet Kuyo's victory claiming that the latter consulted with supernatural spirits to lure voters.
According to the now-ousted majority leader, Mr Kuyo of the ODM Party hired four wizards who slaughtered a colobus monkey and spread its intestines in four key polling stations on the last day of campaigns in a bid to confuse his supporters.
Enjoining IEBC Constituency Returning Officer Mark Lempaka, Masikonde cited Olposimoru, Olemeisi, Shabaltarakwa, and Kamurar as the polling stations where the said witchcraft rituals were performed.
"They tied the skin of the monkey on his (Kuyo’s) waist after which he started greeting and hugging voters. Mysteriously, all the voters who got in contact with him voted in his favour. The plan was to confuse voters,” the petition reads.
The disgruntled politician cited other mysterious occurrences including an incident where one of his ardent supporters abandoned him and pledged support for the ODM candidate.
Mr Masikonde added that he lost all contacts in his phone book and was unable to contact his agents as a result of the 'juju' used by his opponent.
“I woke up in the morning of August 4 only to realise my phone's contact list was blank. As a result, I was unable to respond to urgent calls or get in touch with my supporters and agents,” he said in his affidavit.
Furthermore, seven of his supporters were affected by the spell after a lorry ferrying them overturned in unclear circumstances.
