Government Offices Burnt Down, Crucial Documents Destroyed

Government offices were on Monday morning burnt down in Migori County leading to the destruction of crucial documents.

The cause of the fire that razed the Migori County Procurement stores is still unknown though it is believed arsonists may have caused it.

Confirming the incident, County Police Boss Joseph Nthenge stated that they have launched a probe into the incident.

Earlier this month, the offices of Homabay Governor Cyprian Awiti were burnt down following a suspected arson attack at the County headquarters.

The procurement and finance departments were the most affected, with a lot of crucial documents being burnt to ashes in the inferno.

The fire raised a lot of questions since it occurred three days after sleuths from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) visited the offices and left with documents and computers.

The detectives were investigating an alleged loss of Sh5 Billion through impropriety by senior county government officials.
