More Details On NASA Anti-IEBC Protests In New York

New details have emerged on a protest supposedly scheduled for September 30th at United Nations Headquarters in New York for Kenyans in the diaspora demanding changes to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative for the human rights organization mentioned as sponsors of the event, stated that the poster being circulated was fake news.

The official categorically stated that their organization has nothing to do with the alleged protests.

The poster claimed that Kenyans in the USA were set to hold a peaceful march in New York to call for a reformed IEBC in solidarity with Kenyan NASA supporters who are holding similar demonstrations to get the electoral body's CEO, Ezra Chiloba, and other officials out of office.

The National Super Alliance yesterday began protests at the IEBC headquarters in Nairobi to force the electoral commission to heed to their demands.

Chants of "Chiloba must go" rent the air from early in the morning.

Police were forced to use tear gas to disperse the protesters after another group of demonstrators allied to Jubilee showed up to counter NASA supporters.

NASA Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga revealed in a press conference yesterday that the coalition would pile pressure on the commission until Chiloba, French security firm Safran Morpho and Dubai-based printing firm Al Ghurair are kept away from the fresh election.

Jubilee has accused NASA of failing to respect the independence of the electoral body, insisting that the polls be held on the set date of October 26th.

A consultative meeting called by the IEBC with Jubilee and NASA is supposed to happen on Wednesday at the Bomas of Kenya where the concerns raised by both parties will be addressed.
