Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has been dramatically re-arrested after the High Court released him on bail.
The newly-elected legislator had just been released on a Sh500,000 bail and two sureties of Sh1 million each.
He had just posted his bail at the Milimani Law Courts when police officers apprehended him, led him into a waiting vehicle and sped away.
Police revealed that the legislator was arrested in connection to a past assault case adding that he would be arraigned in court to answer to the charges in court on Thursday.
Owino was first arrested on Monday after calling President Uhuru Kenyatta "mtoto wa mbwa" during a NASA rally in Kawangware, Nairobi.

He was on Tuesday charged with subversion and offensive conduct, as well as an alternative charge of incitement to violence and ordered to remain in custody at the Kileleshwa Police Station.

The MP denied the charges after spending two nights in police custody. The case will be mentioned on Wednesday 4th October 2017.
