Kalonzo Holds Meeting to Make Changes to NASA Leadership

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka will on Thursday play host to the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders at his party headquarters in Lavington.

The Opposition leaders from the National Assembly and the Senate will hold a parliamentary group meeting at the premises to discuss the final list of their parliament leaders.

NASA co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula are expected to attend the meeting as well.

The Opposition has already settled for the Bungoma Senator and Suba South MP John Mbadi to lead the minority in the Senate and National Assembly respectively.

An earlier list had suggested that Lugari MP Ayub Savula (ANC) as National Assembly deputy minority leader, Kathiani MP Robert Mbui (Wiper) as minority whip and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa (Ford-Kenya) as the deputy whip.

The list was, however, highly contested with Coast MPs led by Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori (ODM) threatening to leave NASA protesting alleged discrimination.

The meeting will continue as scheduled despite calls from a section of the NASA MPs who would prefer that the coalition focus on getting Mr Odinga elected in the repeat presidential poll.

"The bigger picture for us at this moment is to deliver votes to our presidential candidate, the rest can be dealt with later," Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi had urged.
