Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has revealed that he was tortured while being held at Pangani Police Station.
Speaking at Kibera Law Courts where he was charged with causing grievous harm to his opponent and Amani National Congress (ANC) politician Joshua Otieno Obiende, Babu revealed that street kids were sent to his cell to torture and harass him all night.
He almost came to tears as he pleaded with the magistrate to release him on bond.
Mr Owino has so far spent three nights in police custody since Monday when he was first arrested for allegedly insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta and thrown into the filthy Pangani cells.
On Tuesday, he spent the night at Kileleshwa police station after the Court postponed to Wednesday the hearing and determination of his bail application.
Unexpectedly, he was re-arrested moments after being freed on a Sh500,000 cash bail. This earned him the third night in a row as a guest of the State at an undisclosed police cell.
Authorities explained that he was re-arrested over a past assault case that had been pending at the Kibra Law Courts.
On October 14, he is expected back to the Milimani Law Courts for the hearing of charges of subverting justice and making statements to create disaffection against the Presidency. This is after he called President Uhuru Kenyatta a "son of a dog".

On Thursday, a section of agitated Kenyans took to social media demanding the immediate arrest of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko after he was recorded hurling abusive words at controversial MP Babu Owino of Embakasi East.
In a video that has been widely shared on social media, Governor Sonko calls Owino "homosexual...garbage...dog".
Addressing a Jubilee rally, Sonko goes further to insist that Babu is a homosexual and even threatens to hire goons to sodomize the first-time MP.
The former Nairobi Senator noted that he will do anything including losing his governorship to ensure that the President is respected.
"If I have to lose my governor seat let it be. You cannot refer to the President as a dog; you call him that and I call you the same. We will defend our President and if defending him seems like a show of disrespect then we are ready," Sonko stated.
