'Daughters of Raila' Arrested in Kakamega

A group of National Super Alliance (NASA) campaign volunteers dubbed 'Daughters of Raila' were arrested in Kakamega County on Saturday.

The ladies through their Twitter account confirmed the arrest claiming that they were whisked away to Kakamega Police Station.

The group stated that they were apprehended while launching NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga’s campaign.

Though they were later released, a truck donated to them by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was reportedly withheld at the station.

The group wrote: “We were peacefully campaigning only to be stopped by four police cars claiming "orders from above" to arrest us."

“The driver was manhandled and his DL taken and he was taken to Kakamega AP,” they added.

The body is among the top recognised NASA volunteers who have offered their services to the Opposition to safeguard and campaign for the Opposition presidential candidate.

On September 16, they organised a car wash event within the Nairobi CBD where they invited motorists to drive by and have their vehicles cleaned in exchange for a Sh500 or Sh1,000 donation to the NASA campaign kitty.
