NASA Demands Prosecution of Uhuru's Chief Agent Davis Chirchir

The National Super Alliance (NASA) ordered the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to prosecute President Uhuru Kenyatta’s chief agent David Chirchir within 72 hours.

NASA has accused Mr Chirchir of accessing the electoral commission's servers illegally during the August 8 General Election.

In a petition to Tobiko, the opposition has threatened to institute private prosecution of Mr Chirchir should the DPP fail to act.

The former Energy Cabinet Secretary and one-time IEBC official was appointed Chief Agent for the Jubilee Party in July.

Initially, Chirchir was in charge of Information Communication Technology at the defunct Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) but was later appointed Energy CS by President  Kenyatta.

He was later dropped as CS after facing court charges filed against him by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Chirchir was accused of colluding with a top official at the electricity company to embezzle Sh90 Million transferred from the Kenya Pipeline Company to Kenya Power.

On September 23, Jubilee Party also asked Tobiko to investigate NASA leaders Musalia Mudavadi and James Orengo over unlawfully accessing IEBC servers.

The ruling party claimed that the duo wrote to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati insinuating they had obtained election results from the servers.

“NASA leaders have subsequently held numerous press conferences at which they claim to be holding data and information from IEBC’s IT system, which could only be accessed unlawfully or

which is false information deliberately disseminated to undermine the electoral process,” stated Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
