NASA MPs Paid to Boycott Demonstrations to Be Named

Amani National Congress youth leader Jeff Mwenje has announced that they will be naming Kakamega National Super Alliance(NASA) lawmakers who were allegedly paid to boycot the anti-IEBC demonstrations.

Mwenje claimed that a section of the Members of Parliament were paid by Deputy President William Ruto to be a no-show during the protests

"We are aware some NASA MPs collect handouts from Deputy President William Ruto's Sugoi home to go slow on NASA campaigns. We'll soon shame them for betraying the will of voters," he stated.

However, a NASA MP has since responded to the accusations noting that even Opposition leader Raila Odinga never attended.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Wednesday, Likuyani MP  Dr Enoch Kibunguchy dismissed the allegations, stating: "Ask those who are saying that why Raila Odinga did not take part in the demonstrations in Nairobi."

He was referring to comments by the NASA presidential candidate that an army general does not always have to be on the frontline.

The Monday demonstrations were led by former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale and County Representative Elsie Muhanda.

A large number of Members of the County Assembly were also present. The protests in the town proceeded smoothly until protesters were dispersed by the Police.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala caused a stir after a large group of police officers camped at his house from 9 am in the morning and refused to let him leave the premises.

They accused him of planning to lead the demonstrations in Kakamega. A permit he had been issued for the demonstrations last week was abruptly cancelled in the morning after the officers stormed his home.

In an interview with Kenyans.co.ke on Monday, Malala stated: "Jubilee wants to use intimidation. Let them know we shall not relent as NASA."
