Martha Karua Gets First Win in Case Against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru

NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua has received her first win in a petition she filed challenging Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's win in the August elections.

Kerugoya High Court has ordered Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to present all the Forms 37A and 37B for the Kirinyaga County in two days.

This comes following an application by Karua, who vied for Kirinyaga governorship but lost to the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary.

In the ruling delivered on Wednesday, Judge Lucy Gitari told the electoral commission to file all the documents on Thursday to enable the commencement of the election petition.

During the hearing of the initial conference, Ms Karua's lawyer Gitobu Imanyara accused the IEBC of forfeiting the court's initial order which required them to provide them all the documents

He indicated that the preparation of their case was being sabotaged by the lack of the crucial documents.

"Your honour, we are yet to be served by the IEBC with all documents we requested. We fear the respondent wants to sabotage our preparations and make our case falter when the hearing commences," he stated.

Karua also revealed that the IEBC had only provided them with fake Form 37C which could not be relied upon to substantiate the case.

One other request presented by the Narc Kenya leader is that the IEBC servers be opened to allow them to scrutinise fully.

She expressed her fear that important information might be tampered with if the IEBC reconfigures the KIEMs kit for preparation of the repeat presidential election scheduled for October 26.
