2 Former ODM Governors Set to Join President Uhuru Kenyatta's Team

Former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Governors David Ole Nkedianye (Kajiado) and John Mruttu (Taita Taveta) are set to ditch Opposition Leader Raila Odinga for President Uhuru Kenyatta's team.

Nkedianye's spokesman, Kasaine ole Meikoki is reported by the Star indicating that a deal had been finalized adding that the Governor was making final preparations ahead of his defection.

The Spokesman noted that the former Governor had been offered several incentives before they reached an agreement.

"They told him to withdraw the pending election petition against Lenku and then he will be offered a cabinet secretary position after October 26.

"Jubilee will also reimburse him all the election expenses he incurred in the last general election," Meikoki was quoted by the Star.

Mr Meikoki wished the ex-governor well in Jubilee adding that the move to decamp was a personal decision and as such he had shifted to Jubilee alone without any supporters.

"Cutting the tallest tree in the forest does not necessarily finish the forest. As a matter of fact, it will give the younger trees a chance to grow tall and big," Meikoki explained.

Meanwhile, ex-Taita Taveta Governor is also set to decamp to President Kenyatta's party after failing to retain his seat in the August election.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Mruttu confirmed that talks were in place and he would soon be moving to Jubilee.

"The presidential campaign team has approached me concerning the issue and am in talks with the ruling party to join their team. I have widely consulted my followers and they have positively welcomed the move," he stated.

Taveta Legislator Naomi Shaban also confirmed Mruttu's move stating that: "Our former governor has finally gotten enough of coldness in the opposition and he has accepted to join our team."

President Kenyatta's team has been raiding Opposition politicians who lost in the August election with an aim of making inroads to perceived National Super Alliance (NASA) strongholds.

So far, Jubilee has managed to poach former Governors Isaac Ruto and Peter Munya together with a host of other politicians.
