NASA to Go Back to Supreme Court Before Election

National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have announced that if Jubilee MPs pass electoral amendments in Parliament, they will be forced to go to court to challenge the controversial laws before the repeat presidential election.

Speaking on Saturday in Vihiga County, the leaders led by NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula noted that they would use their last weapon, the court, to challenge the laws assented by the president.

"If the law is passed, we will move to court where Maraga is waiting for us after all, the Chief Justice had said that if there is any mischief, he will not hesitate to give orders," Wetangula stated.

His comments were reiterated by Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and Tongaren MP Eseyi Simiyu who stated that the move by Jubilee appears to be a forceful implementation of laws through backdoors.

Kanduyi MP noted that the Opposition supported by the IEBC Chairman is trying hard to reform the electoral commission but the efforts are hindered by the Uhuru led team.

"They don't want to see elections conducted well by the IEBC and see Raila Odinga get the power," Wafula stated.

Mr Simiyu on his part condemned the move on the reforms done solely by Jubilee MPs indicating that the previous house had made critical changes to the electoral laws like ballot stuffing noting that these new changes are insignificant.

"They cannot sit in Parliament alone and pass electoral laws that are not substantial to the laws," he stated adding that the most significant project was ballot stuffing, and the legislation was made.

The NASA leaders further defended Gladys wanga over claims that she uttered words that defamed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy stating that her statements meant no harm.

The Raila Odinga led team is planning to hold demonstrations every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday demanding changes in the electoral commission.
