Raila Explains Why He's Leaving Kenya

National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga has spoken on why he will travel out of Kenya with just two weeks left to the Presidential election.

Speaking after a Monday meeting with leaders from Kajiado, Odinga dismissed speculations on his intentions for the trip revealing that he had been invited to give various lectures on the situation in the country at the moment.

The former Prime Minister stated: "I've just been invited to give lectures in New York, London and Washington on what is going on in Kenya. I will be giving a lecture at Chatham House in London on Friday and coming back."

He also maintained his stance that there would be no election if demands for electoral reforms by the NASA are not met, noting that he cannot be compelled to take part in the polls.

"It is my democratic right not to take part in a pre-rigged election," he declared.

He also stated that he believed that President Uhuru Kenyatta cannot win in a free and fair election.

Chatham House, better known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is an independent policy institute headquartered in London.

The former Prime Minister is expected to shed more light on his declaration that there will be no election as it appears more likely that he could withdraw from the forthcoming polls.

Odinga also chided former NASA leaders who have recently defected to Jubilee, alleging a fund had been set up to buy Opposition politicians.

He stated: "No Kenyan should lose sleep because individuals have gone to State House and announced their defection."
