Anne Waiguru to Spend Sh52 Million for President Uhuru Kenyatta's Campaign

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has raised Sh51.9 Million for President Uhuru Kenyatta's presidential campaign.

According to Ms Waiguru, the money was contributed by Kirinyaga Members of County Assembly in a period of two days.

Waiguru stated that the money would be used for road shows so as to mobilise voters in the region.

The Governor stated that the leaders were united to ensure a 99 percent voter turn out in the County in the fresh presidential poll scheduled for October 26.

“We have sacrificed ourselves to raise this amount because we want the campaigns for our President in this region to be successful,” Waiguru stated.

“We are taking these campaigns seriously and every resident should know that,” she added.

The region has 351,000 registered voters but 48,000 of them did not vote in the August elections.

The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) vied on a Jubilee ticket against Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua.

Ms Karua, however, filed a petition at the Kerugoya Law Courts challenging Waiguru's election.

She refused to concede defeat claiming that the counting and tallying of the results was not properly conducted by the electoral officials.
